Golden Stars
In Golden Stars: Everyday Sacredness, Anna Samoylova presents a series of works capturing small fragments of daily life with her daughter. Turning phone self-portraits into linoprints embroidered with gold threads, beads, and pearls, the artist connects the invisible labour of care with the visible labour of making. While these pieces recall the tradition of handmade Orthodox icons, Samoylova’s gold and pearls do not honour God. Instead, they elevate the unseen everyday moments of tenderness, care, and exhaustion that fill a mother's life.
